Anastrozole is a non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor originally developed for the treatment of estrogen-receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women. By selectively binding to the aromatase enzyme, it prevents the conversion of testosterone and other androgens into estrogen. Athletes use it during anabolic cycles to manage estrogen-related side effects.
In a cycle context, Anastrozole helps prevent gynecomastia, water retention, and elevated blood pressure that can result from rising estrogen levels alongside elevated testosterone. Common on-cycle dosing ranges from 0.25mg every other day to 1mg daily, adjusted by response and bloodwork.
Crashing estrogen too low produces its own problems — joint pain, low libido, reduced gains, poor mood. Anastrozole is best dosed carefully and monitored, not blindly maxed out. It is not anabolic itself; purely a support compound that lets you run higher testosterone safely.
