Originally developed in 1962 by Jenapharm in East Germany, Turinabol — chemical name 4-chlorodehydromethyltestosterone — is a structurally modified version of methandrostenolone. The 4-chloro substitution prevents conversion to estrogen, while the 1,2 double bond reduces androgenic activity. The result is an oral anabolic that produces controlled, water-free strength gains.
Because there is no aromatization, Turinabol does not cause water retention or gynecomastia. Gains are slower than Dianabol but tend to retain better post-cycle. It is commonly run for 6 to 8 weeks at moderate dosages, used either as a kickstart for an injectable cycle or as a standalone for athletes whose sport requires staying inside a weight class.
Liver toxicity is a consideration as with all C17-alpha-alkylated orals, so cycles are kept short and supported with liver protection. Suppression of natural testosterone is moderate, and post-cycle therapy is needed to restore normal HPTA function.
